Always a genre-defying artist, Antonel blends her passion for classic country, jazz and surf rock with this collection of covers, and the result is a fresh hybrid of musical styles that feels both vintage and hyper-modern.
Antonel’s debut album Always the Outsider combines elements of mid-century country music with unconventional subject matter and virtuosic instrumentation– including tracks with Doug Pettibone (Lucinda Williams) on pedal steel and acoustic guitar. The thematically unique collection explores metaphysical and supernatural concepts (alien-earthling romance, past-life trauma) as well as grounded narratives of everyday experience. Always the Outsider was critically praised, netting coverage in publications from Holler Country to The Bluegrass Situation, and was hailed as a 2022 Essential Album by Saving Country Music.
Sophie Gault has always been a little unhinged. A Nashville-based Americana rocker with a midnight voice and an eye and ear for last call rock and roll, she writes songs that swagger, stumble, wink, and bleed. With her third full-length album, Unhinged, Gault triples down on the risk-taking drive that has revved her from dive bars to the big tents, crafting a record that feels at once deeply personal and side-eye defiant.
Born with a restless streak that fuels musical infernos, Gault quickly found her place among the city’s creative underground. Over the years, her biting songwriting and electric live presence have made her a name to circle on the Americana scene, praised for both her razor-edged honesty and her sly sense of humor.
